Fitness Shoe Review

So there are millions of shoes out there that can be used for workouts & fitness related activities, but how do you know which one works best for you? In this post I take you through a few of the different shoes that I have, what I use them for & why I recommend them. Hope this is helpful for you!

Brooks:

Good for: Running, Wider Feet, Arch Support

I have a pair of Brooks Launch & use them for my longer distance running on sidewalks or streets. They provide good support, help me keep a heel to toe technique & I have not had shin splints since using them on my runs! That is a win in itself!

Here is a link to their page on the Brooks site, but I got mine for $59.99 at Sports Authority a few months ago & Iā€™m sure you can find them at a sports store for cheaper than online!

Nike:

Good for: Cross Training (gym cardio), Plyometrics, Weights, Core

I have quite the array of Nike, oops :) but my favorite ones right now are the Roshe. Because of their flexibility in the material, my wide feet are always super comfy. I wear these to work at the physical therapy clinic every day as well! They do provide some support (definitely more than the Nike Frees which I do enjoy using at the gym) & adapt well to the shape of your foot. I found them online for about $65 but here is a link to some that are in the 70ā€™s. If you looked hard enough, I think you could find them for cheaper!

Asics:

Good for: Trail running, Hiking, Walking on uneven paths

I love my pair of Gel Contend. I use them for hiking & for trail running all the time. They provide that extra support for me that Brooks is missing & I never fear twisting an ankle on uneven trails or slipping on rocks with these guys. If you are an avid hiker or getting into it, I do recommend hiking shoes/boots (something I am looking into!), but for the occasional weekend trail run or hike, these Asics do a great job!

Here is a link to the ones I have & these are actually even cheaper than the price I paid, so this is a great deal if you are looking for something like these!
