3 Tips for Managing Your Time as a Work from Home Mom

Take a look at the clock. I know I’m not the only mama who is all about the naptime grind. Whether you are working a full-time job from home right now, creating a side hustle as a stay-at-home mama, or running a highly successful business during naps and a few hours of preschool - I just wanted to say… you are doing an AMAZING job!

As a work-from-home mama myself, I’ve learned some tips that make managing my time a little easier, and I wanted to share them with you. Grab your coffee and a notebook and let’s get to it.

  1. Time Block: Set your goals for the day, and block off sections of time in your schedule to work on each specific goal or task. Then turn off your notifications during this time to REALLY get sh*t done and not be pulled away with every new notification.

  2. Plan each week in advance. Sit down with a glass of wine or a mug of tea on Sunday night and map out the week ahead. What needs to get done? When will you have childcare or free moments? Then - strategize how to best use that time to meet your goals.

  3. Use your work time as work time. Don’t overwhelm yourself with household chores, running out to grocery shop, etc. This is your work time! Let’s just say I learned that the hard way and tried to fit everything in while Emery was at preschool, rather than focusing on my work. Ever since making the decision to turn my back to the messy kitchen or dirty laundry during work hours, I have gotten WAY more done and have opened up my evenings and weekends to do more family life rather than catching up on what I didn’t get done during work hours!

Get into the habit of asking yourself, “Does this support the life I’m trying to create?” It’s so important to recognize why you are building your business. And be sure to grab this fun worksheet to guide you as you work to build that life you’ve always wanted.
