3 Ways to Stay Motivated as an Entrepreneur
Making the switch from my 9-5 job to building my own business has been a game changer (honestly, a life changer) for my family. It’s given us financial freedom that my office job never would have allowed, and I can spend way more time with my toddler during the week.
But entrepreneurs are also very susceptible to burnout. The lines between your personal and professional life are blurred, and it’s easy to clock in way too many hours in a week. So how do you stay motivated while still creating space for yourself to grow and thrive?
Here are my top 3 tips for staying motivated as an entrepreneur:
Set quarterly goals: As business owners, we can easily be overwhelmed by the big picture, or stuck in the weeds, sweating the small stuff. Setting quarterly goals allows me to have a growth mindset without the distraction of thinking too big or too small. Don’t forget to check back at the end of each quarter to see how far you’ve come!
Celebrate what you’ve accomplished: And I don’t just mean the big stuff. It’s easy to celebrate a big launch or a major business milestone, but don’t forget to celebrate the smaller wins too! Did you set up a new email campaign? Receive an awesome client testimonial? Carve out time to plan for your own content? Celebrate it! I like to schedule a date night, go on an adventure, or treat myself to some online shopping - but do whatever excites you! Taking the time to celebrate all the wins in your business will help prevent burnout.
Look to industry leaders to see what your next steps could be: Maybe it’s offering a new service, expanding and hiring an assistant for yourself (this doesn’t have to be a huge deal, you can hire someone for just a few hours per week so you have the opportunity to use that time to scale/learn more for yourself), teaching others what you know through creating an online course, or setting up an IG Live or free webinar event with someone in the industry who complements what you do (get yourself out of your comfort zone and reach out to those around you to connect!) These motivating conversations help me SO much!
