How to Find a Specialty You're Passionate About
If you’ve been around my page for a bit, you know how much I stress the importance of identifying your ideal client. It’s one of my top tips for new Virtual Assistants, and a part of the building process that’s essential for success. But once you’ve identified that ideal client and your business is underway, you may start wondering how you can move away from hourly work and stop trading time for money.
I did not start my VA business thinking I could ever offer a high-ticket item. I started with email inbox management & general admin working hourly each day. As I found my specialty, I was able to rework my pricing AND my routine to be more flexible!
Just one year ago I would have never imagined my specialty service being what it is - but it totally just fell into my lap & I ran with it!
Btw - I used to hate it when people said something just "fell into their lap" & it ended up being their top reason for success in their business. It would make me so mad, because I was trying so hard & it seemed like it was just handed to them.
Well now I know what it means & how it works… You CANNOT see the future & you don't know what's going to end up working for you ... but you can just take the opportunity that's right in front of you & learn bit by bit.
So if you're afraid to start because you don't have the "skills" - guess what, I didn't either. If you've got the passion, then you can grow WITH your clients. Start small with basic packages and learn as you go. It's exactly what I did when I started my specialty, and now it's my big ticket item!
If you’re ready to dive in, but you’re not sure where to start, I can help! I created a Social Media Manager speciality program as well as an Email Marketing mini course to support VAs leaning in to a speciality. If you’re interested in either of these growing fields, these courses are the perfect place to start! (If you haven’t yet launched your VA business, you’ll want to start here.)
And one year from now, if you decide to take the leap, I bet you'll be amazed at how far you've come... I'm just so glad I started when I did!
