How to Package Your Services as a VA
Picture this with me: You just launched your VA business and are ready to turn your naptime hustle into a real money maker for your family. Your first client is ready to sign on the dotted line, they’re just waiting for you to send over your proposal. But wait -what comes next?! The pricing and packaging of your services can be a real sticking point for new (and even slightly seasoned!) VAs.
Let’s take the guesswork out of this process and put you in the driver’s seat!
Narrow the services you offer. While it may seem like the best option to offer LOTS of services to keep your options open, it’s actually better to be more specific about the work that you do so you can attract the right kind of client and scale your business as you gain experience. If you need help narrowing your scope, be sure to check out my free guide on what services you can offer as a VA!
Determine if the services you offer should be priced as a package. While this doesn’t make sense for all services, oftentimes it’s in your best interest to create packages from which clients can choose. This moves you away from an hourly admin rate and into a higher ticket retainer. The goal is always to stop trading your time for money. Here’s an example of how that would look:
1) Minimal Services (example: 2 Social Posts per week on 2 platforms)
2) The Perfect Amount (example: 5 Social Posts per week on unlimited platforms + engagement)
3) Above & Beyond (example: Daily Social Posts on unlimited platforms + engagement + copywriting)
3. Set your monthly income goal and work backwards! How much do you want to make each month? How many hours do you want to work? Then do a bit of math to determine what your rates need to look like. Are you hitting your goal with an hourly rate? Or do you need to target more specific services so you can charge high-ticket offers and not trade time for money?
General admin work usually begins around $20-$25/hour and more specialty work like social media management can start around $350/month. I strongly recommend that you have a monthly minimum requirement for any clients you sign. It’s also a best practice to combine monthly retainers and higher ticket, project-based work to meet your monthly income goal.
Now you’re ready to bring on new clients and can feel confident in the services and packages you have to offer. Stop thinking of yourself as “just a VA” (I hate that phrase, by the way!), and position yourself as the talented and growing entrepreneur that you are!
