Common Objections to Starting a Business
Whenever someone hears that I started my own business, I get a lot of the same responses….
“Wow - that’s amazing! I’d love to do that but [insert excuse here].”
“I wish I could do that too, but I could never quit my full time job.”
“I don’t have time to do that now, but maybe one day!”
“That sounds great, but I don’t have any sort of childcare…”
Don’t get me wrong - some of these excuses feel really valid! And starting a business can be scary. But let me share something really important with you - starting a business does NOT need to completely change your life. (Read that again!) The beauty of having your own business is that YOU get to call the shots.
Let’s chat about some of the most common objections I hear to starting a business, and I’ll do a little mythbusting.
❌ I can't leave my reliable job - my income is too important right now.
✅ You do NOT need to drop your current job. You can start a VA business on the side with one client and can make approx $500-$1500/month. This type of extra income can be life changing! Some women don't want to leave their current job, but rather have a side hustle on top of it to save extra money. Whatever your goal - you can make it happen!
❌ I can't afford an online course right now - I'll just Google it & try to get started on my own.
✅ Funny enough - you are going to waste a lot of precious time trying to figure it out on your own.
Plus, why is it so easy to spend a few hundred dollars at Target, but not on something that will totally transform your life? Would you spend $700 to make $7000? I think so ;)
Many VA Bootcamp students earned back their investment within the first month or two of finishing my course! Why? Because it takes you step-by-step & gives you actionable things to do right away. Many women even got their first client before finishing the course! (You can check out some testimonials here if you want to hear from some actual VA Bootcamp grads.)
❌ I will start in "FILL IN THE BLANK" months
✅ Many women who say this to me don't actually start in X amount of months. They just never start. I have mamas in my DMs with messages from 2 YEARS ago saying they were interested…
Why? Because there is always a reason to put off starting. The best thing you can do is to start NOW. Like literally - right now.
The most successful women I have seen who start their VA business dove in head first and started, regardless of their circumstances. There will always be a reason not to, but if you just stop making the excuses, you will be SO proud of yourself in 6 months!
