Onboarding New Clients (& Are Client Gifts a Thing?!)

So you just scored a new client (congrats!) and you’re ready to get started. If your first instinct is to jump right in with all the projects - don’t! Having a seamless onboarding process will be critical to the success of your client relationship. Speaking as someone who’s been burned before, let me save you the trouble and share my best tips for starting a new client relationship.

  • Ensure you’re using a Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) that will take the client from a discovery call all the way to signing a contract. You can automate most of this, and it sets the tone for a professional and efficient client experience. Honeybook is my favorite CRM and you can get 50% off your first year with my code!

  • Speaking of contracts, this is a MUST HAVE for all new clients. You can read more about why contracts are so important for your business here

  • And if you’re wondering if client gifts are a thing - yes! But don’t overcomplicate them. Be sure to ask your client some of their favorite things/treats/how they relax in your onboarding questionnaire. Then you can curate a small gift to welcome them aboard. I love using Box Fox, and you can get $10 off your first order with my code

And I’m going to let you in on another little secret. The best way to find new clients (a question I’m asked all the time) is through referrals from other happy clients! A thorough onboarding process (with an airtight contract!) is going to give your new partnership the best start and will hopefully end up generating even more business for you.

I know it can feel nerve wracking to bring a new client on board, especially as a new Virtual Assistant. If you want to run through your process with me, I’d love to hear it! Shoot me a DM and let’s chat!
