Top 3 Tips for Building a Mini Online Course

My love for online courses is no secret. It’s my favorite tip for leveling up your business with passive income, and a great way to expand your library of offers. Even though I believe anyone (yes, that means you!) can create an online course, I still hear from lots of mamas that are hesitant to take the leap.

Here’s what I have to say to that - start small. If you’re thinking your course needs to look like the one you bought from that Instagram feeding/sleeping/disciplining influencer with 1 million followers - slooooow down.  A mini course can be a great starting point for a mama-run biz. Still lots of bang for the buyer’s buck but on a much smaller scale.

Here are my top 3 tips for building a mini online course:

  1. Break your course into modules: I recommend three modules for a mini course - all with the goal of bringing your ideal customer from Point A to B. You definitely don’t have to know everything to teach a course.

  2. Invest in a user-friendly platform: I love Kajabi for all things online courses. You can host your course, create email funnels, and design landing and sales pages -- all in one place. Use my code for a free trial and check it out for yourself. Your monthly investment can be covered by selling just one mini course!

  3. Focus on timeless content: In the online course industry, we call this an evergreen course. It means that someone can take your course today or in a year and the information will still feel valid, fresh, and relevant. Use a simple slideshow (you don’t even need to show your face, if that’s holding you back!), and avoid using language that will date your course (like your child’s age, the weather, etc.).

I started my business as a part time admin VA, and now I’m a 6-figure work from home mama with four courses (including two mini courses!) in my library. If I can do it, you can too!
