Waiting for Clients? Do THIS!

One of the most nerve wracking times as an entrepreneur is in the waiting. Waiting for your first client. The next client. Waiting for someone to sign up, to reply, to buy. When you own your own business, it takes a lot of guts to put yourself out there!

So what do you do while you’re waiting for those clients to come rolling in? Rather than letting yourself feel anxious, use that time to take action! Here are some ways you can keep moving forward, even when things seem to be standing still.

  1. Set your business up for success. Start up costs for a VA are pretty minimal (another thing I love about it!), but you’ll want to make sure you have everything organized so you’re putting your best foot forward. Set up your Customer Relationship Manager (I love Honeybook!) so you can seamlessly respond to inquiries, schedule discovery calls, and onboard new clients. Start posting regularly on your social accounts, and show your face in stories. A website isn’t a must (especially in the early stages of your business) - but if you want to invest in one, make sure it’s easy to navigate and represents your brand well.

  2. Know your ideal client and hang out where they are! If you haven’t nailed down your ideal client yet - do that first! (Hint: Use my ideal client worksheet to help you get specific on this.) Once you know who they are, then find them! Follow them on Instagram and start interacting with their posts and stories. Subscribe to their newsletters, and respond if something really resonates with you. Read their latest blog posts, binge all of their podcasts, and join their Facebook group. Get to know all you can about them, and when the timing feels right, send them an email or DM (even a voice message to get extra personal!) to introduce yourself and your interest in working together. 🙋🏽‍♀️ VA Bootcamp members - rewatch the Market Research video in module 2!

  3. Create a freebie. Having a big following is NOT a prerequisite for being a successful VA. The goal is to nurture the people who do come to you, and serve up lots of value so they’re inspired to want to learn more. A freebie does just that, plus it builds up an email list for you to connect outside of social media. And it doesn’t need to be complicated! A freebie can be anything from a mini guide to a short workbook to a five minute video training. DM me if you have questions or need some ideas!

If you think the market is too saturated or there’s not enough work to go around - think again! But you’ve got to put yourself out there to actually land the client. I promise this gets easier with practice. And your mindset is everything (I have a whole section on this in VA Bootcamp!). Believe in yourself, put in the hustle, and watch your biz grow!
